Ex-LNWR G2a Class 0-8-0 No 49350 is seen standing outside Rugby shed 'cold' but watered and coaled ready for its next trip the following day

Ex-LNWR G2a Class 0-8-0 No 49350 is seen standing outside Rugby shed 'cold' but watered and coaled ready for its next trip the following day. Built by the LNWR in January 1903 as a Class B four-cylinder compound and given the running number 1224, No 49350 was first rebuilt as a G1 simple expansion locomotive in January 1921. When allocated by the LMS the running number 9350 it was also given a Belpaire Firebox which it retained when it was rebuilt again as a G2A locomotive in March 1946 which it remained until December 1962 when it was withdrawn from 9D Buxton shed to be scrapped by Crewe works.
