Looking along platform one towards the Stafford and Leicester bays with the dining rooms and refreshment rooms in the centre of the image. On the extreme right of the photograph is a sign with the legend 'Forces Canteen & Hostel'. Beneath the sign is a large cigarette vending machine. Above the platform can be seen the station's transverse ridge and furrow roof which extended over both the platforms and adjacent lines. Whereas the posterboards are headed 'LMS' all other signs are LNWR in origin, such as the Dining Rooms and Refreshment Rooms signs, including the angled boards over the doors and those suspended from the roof.
