British Railways Diesel Shunter No 13055 stands between ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 45282 and the buffer stops

British Railways Diesel Shunter No 13055 stands between ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 45282 and the buffer stops. Vic Smith writes 'On the right is the avoiding line with signal visible on the other side of the WCML'. Built at Derby works in July 1954, it was renumbered as D3055 in February 1958 and again as 08042 in April 1974 which it retained until March 1979 when it was withdrawn from YK York shed. For a brief period, June to October 1958, No 13055 was allocated to Rugby Testing Station. The photograph must be dated somewhere between August 1954 when it was first allocated to Rugby and February 1958 when it was renumbered as D3055. Interestingly ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 45282 was not allocated to Rugby shed and therefore must have been visiting. Built by Armstrong Whitworth Limited in November 1936, No 45282 remained in service until May 1968 when it was withdrawn from 8A Edge Hill shed.
