Midland Railway 4-4-0 No 311 stands in the Leicester bay at the head of a local Leicester passenger service. A member of the MR's 1327 class No 311 was designed by William Johnson and built by external contractor Dubbs & Company in June 1877 and remained in service until October 1934 when it was withdrawn from the MR's Nottingham shed. John Hyde writes, 'This is one of two glass negatives HWR took of No.311 on the same day at Rugby'. Photograph HW Robinson courtesy of John Hyde. |
