Ex-LNWR 4-6-0 No 8799, a 19 inch goods engine, is seen at the head of a train of empty mineral wagons passing alongside the shed in October 1932. Built at Crewe works in April 1908 No 8799 remained in service until it was withdrawn from service in August 1936 to be scrapped shortly afterwards at Crewe works.

Michael Byng writes, "These engines were the freight equivalent of the LNWR Experiments built in 1906 with 5' 2½" driving wheels instead of the 6' 3" wheels of the passenger version. These engines, 19" Goods, were closely associated with Nuneaton until superseded by modern Stanier engines in the early to mid 1930s.
