Ex-LMS Coronation Class 4-6-2 No 46240 'City of Coventry'
passes through platform 3 on a down Type 3 working on 6th August 1964. Built in
streamlined form as LMS No 6240 by Crewe works in March 1940, No 46240 was to
remain in service until October 1964 when it was withdrawn from 1A Willesden
shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Great Bridge When first to traffic, the
locomotive was painted black and was named by the Lord Mayor of Coventry at a
ceremony at Coventry shed. The streamlined casing was removed in July 1947.
