LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington

Ex-LNWR 7F Class G2a 0-8-0 No 49377 and ex-LNWR 7F Class G2a 0-8-0 No 49441 stand buffered up on one of Nuneaton shed's sidings

Ex-LNWR 7F Class G2a 0-8-0 No 49377 and ex-LNWR 7F Class G2a 0-8-0 No 49441 stand buffered up on one of Nuneaton shed's sidings. Built by Crewe works as LNWR No 1055, a Class B Compound locomotive, No 49377 was rebuilt by the LNWR as a Class G1 in March 1922 and then again by the LMS in June 1940 as a Class G2a locomotive. The LMS renumbered it as No 9377 in February 1926 followed by British Railways in January 1951 as No 49377 which it retained until October 1962 when it was withdrawn from 8A Edge Hill shed. Its classmate was built as LNWR No 2381, a member of the G2 Class. by Crewe works in September 1922. Renumbered by the LMS as No 9441 in October 1927, No 49441 gained its British Railways number in December 1951 which it carried until October 1961 when it was withdrawn from 2B Nuneaton shed.
