Ex-LMS 4-6-0 5XP Jubilee class No 45552 'Silver Jubilee' is seen on an up Liverpool to Rugby express passing Ashby Junction on May 1956. Built at Crewe in June 1934 as LMS No 5552, the first member of the class, it swapped identities with classmate LMS No 5642 in April 1935 meaning that the locomotive seen above is in fact ex-LMS No 5642. Having been built in December 1934 and the renumbered No 45552 it was named 'Silver Jubilee' in recognition of George Fifth's twenty-five years of being King and remained as such until withdrawn in September 1964 from Crewe North shed to be scrapped in April 1965 by TW Ward Ltd of Beighton of Sheffield.
