LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington

LMS 4-6-0 Patriot class No 5517 is seen at 4pm on 20th March 1948, some three months since nationalisation, at the head of a down express to Southport approaching Nuneaton's No 3 platform. Built at Crewe works in February 1933 No 5517 was another Patriot class notionally rebuilt from a LNWR Claughton class locomotive and remained in service until June 1962 when it was withdrawn from Bank Hall shed in Liverpool being scrapped in July 1962 by Crewe works.
