Looking towards the junction of the Coventry line with the Trent
Valley line with the entrance to the shed on the right. The type of rodding
required to connect the levers in the signal box to the points and signals can
be seen passing under the step to the Permanent Way shed on the left. The hut
on the left is a fogman's hut used during poor visibility by men from the
Permanent Way gang. They would be in contact with the signal cabin and on their
instructions place detonators on the line. The number of detonators placed
would indicate to the driver as they ran over them and exploded them whether
the signal was clear, at caution or danger.
