up Ashby bay coupled to a full brake and another member of the same class in

required to minimise the movement of traffic from Ashby crossing the lines to
the original bay at platform 1. Built at Crewe works in October 1899 as a Webb
designed class A compound locomotive No 9070 was rebuilt by Crewe works in the
guise seen above and remained in service until November 1962 when it was
withdrawn from Bushbury shed to be cut up in March 1963 at Crewe works.
