LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington

Ex-LNWR 0-8-0 Class G2a No 9082 is seen at the head of an up goods train in front of Nuneaton's hump at the throat of the marshalling yard circa 1950. This class was often referred to as Super Ds because a large number of G1 class engines were rebuilt from George Whale class Ds with the super being short for superheated. Built at Crewe works in April 1903 No 9082 remained in service until October 1960 when it was withdrawn from Edge Hill shed in Liverpool to be scrapped immediately by Crewe works.
