Ex-LMS 4P 2-6-4T No 42308, designed by Henry Fowler, is seen standing in platform two at the head of a local Leamington to Coventry passenger train. Built at Derby in January 1928, No 42308 remained in service until August 1959 when it was withdrawn from Chester shed as the first of the class to be withdrawn, being scrapped by TW Ward Ltd of Bolton-on-Dearne in January 1960.

Reg Kimber writes, 'as No 42308 has a 3A shedplate I would suggest that it is working the afternoon train to Birmingham via Coventry. When I was very young, about 10 years old, some friends and myself caught this train after a day at Leamington train-spotting. We thought all trains went on to Nuneaton and we had quite a shock when the train took the Birmingham line after leaving Coventry. Fortunately it stopped at Canley Halt and an understanding porter put us on the next train back to Coventry'.
