LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Harborne

Ex-LNWR 2F 0-6-2T Coal Tank No 7742, running bunker first, on the 1:50pm Harborne to New Street service on 24th November 1934. This was the last day of passenger services on the line hence passengers and crew leaning out of windows and the cab posing for the photograph. Its not known whether Pat Whitehouse provided copies to the crew. Built as LNWR No 183 at Crewe works in August 1886, No 7742 remained in service until October 1947 when it was withdrawn from Rugby shed to be scrapped at Crewe works soon afterwards.
