British Railways built 4-6-0 5MT No 44715 passes over the River Blythe on what is thought to be the 5:48pm New Street to Rugby service on 27th June 1963. Built by Horwich works in November 1948, No 44715 was to remain in service until the last year of steam being withdrawn during January 1968 from 12 D Workington shed. The locomotive was briefly stored at 9 E Trafford Park shed before it was scrapped during April 1968 by Cohens of Kettering. The photographer is standing on the ancient bridal footbridge which lay to the East of Hampton in Arden. It was also recorded on 27th June 1963 that a derailment at Marston Green resulted in delays and disruption to services between New Street and Coventry.
