LMS Route: Nuneaton to Coventry
Foleshill Station: lnwrf128
Looking from the Nuneaton end of the station towards
Coventry along the down platform with the newsagents kiosk on the left circa
late-1950s. The kiosk was behind the double doors operated by Wyman's, a local
family company that had the franchise to operate in a number of stations, the
newsagents was open between 4:30pm and 6:00pm each work day for the sale of
newspapers, periodicals and cigarettes. The gentlemen's toilet was a blue-brick
building open to the elements as it had no roof sheltering men using the
urinals. Two small huts, thought to be used by platelayers - permanent railway
workers who maintained the track, are situated on the up platform adjacent to
the standard LMS designed passenger footbridge. The stove pipe chimney
indicates that one is in use either as an office or more likely as a mess
room.
