Part of an 1888 diagrammatic plan of Curzon Street showing Lawley Street Junction and Curzon Street Wharf sidings. Immediately apparent to the observer is that there are just the two set of lines into New Street station. Sidings Nos 32 to 36 and Curzon Street Wharf were laid down opposite the Grand Junction Railway's station, the other side of the canal which has subsequently been much modified. The modifications included a wharf alongside Ashted Lock as well as being bridged by a structure which carried the entire goods yard's throat as well as the main line to London. The 1888 plan still uses the term Derby Junction which was the name of the original B&DJR station located just north of Hampton in Arden station which was opened on 1st September 1884.
