Looking towards Curzon Street No 1 signal cabin and the 'overhead' lines with the grain warehouse on the left in 1912. This view whilst poor in quality, due to the amount of haze created by a city whose heat and energy source was derived from coal fires, does provide a view of the yard from the opposite perspective to that seen in image 'lnwrcs1278'. Richard Foster, in the second book on his series on Birmingham New Street station noted that the photograph was taken from the roof of the mains goods shed. In the foreground is part of the row of turntables and cross line which ran immediately in front of the warehouse and as can be seen, on one of the turntables is a loaded wagon, with an LNWR sheet.
