Looking towards Coventry as a down goods train approaches Coundon Road level crossing gates which are open to allow its passage circa 1953. The Coal Wharf can be seen on the left with a rake of primarily open wagons standing in Siding No 1 where the weighbridge for rail traffic was located. Next to the down passenger waiting room on the right a set of steps can be seen which were used to assist the porter to light or extinguish the gas lit lamps on the station. On the extreme right part of the brick built gentlemen's lavatory can be seen. It was very common to see the Gentlemen's toilet facilities to be positioned some distance from the main passenger facilities although the ladies facilities were located inside the passenger buildings, frequently via a Ladies Only waiting room.
