View of the station's master's house which was located at the end of Coundon Road station's up platform next to the level crossing. In between the level crossing gates and the station master's house is the pedestrian access gate which provided access to the booking office which was located on the up (Coventry) platform. These gates were independently operated to the level crossing gates that protected the road crossing. The sign on the corner of the station masters house reads 'Beware of Trains'. The crossing gates were prone to accidental damage, as were most crossing gates. Reg Kimber recalls, 'I can remember during the war one of the level crossing gates being virtually demolished by an American Army vehicle which ran into it in the dark'. The semaphore signal seen in image 'lnwrcr39a' has now been replaced by a colour aspect signal introduced as part of the modernisation of the signalling system in the mid-1960s when the Coventry Power box came on stream. Coundon Road Signal Box, which originally controlled the crossing and the block section within which the station and goods yard were located, was located diagonally opposite to the station master's house and was down graded to only control the level crossing gates.
