View of ex-LMS 3MT 2-6-2T No 40152 as it stands with a 57 ft brake van on the truncated down through road. No 40152 is being employed to transfer luggage and parcels between the two platforms in the absence of any other means of transferring such items. In the distance behind the train can be seen the buffer stop originally installed to protect the scaffolding erected to support the formwork for building Stoney Road bridge. The footbridge was retained initially during the rebuilding of the station although the luggage bridge, which was adjacent to the footbridge, was demolished very early during reconstruction. This was because the latter was wider and it's lift area fouled the site of the new parcels building. Built by Derby works in September 1937 as LMS No 152 No 40152 remained in service until January 1962 when it was withdrawn from then stored at Dumfries shed being scrapped in June 1963 by the West of Scotland Shipbreaking Co of Troon.
