Close up showing Coventry No 4 Signal box in the distance and the sidings that ran on the left and the branch lines that ran immediately to the right

This close up of image 'lnwr638' showing Coventry No 4 Signal box in the distance and the sidings that ran on the left and the branch lines that ran immediately to the right. Compare this to the 1890s layout which shows that the branch line ran either side of the Signal box. The large numbers of five plank open wagons is probably associated with the removal of spoil from the construction of the new station. However in 1965 to 1969 when I was a student at Coventry Technical at the Butts the crash of buffers was heard all day long as coal wagons were shunted.
