Looking across to the remnants of the up platform and the parcel office the only structure still standing. On such a cold Winter's day any passenger standing on what remained of platform 1 would have left them very vulnerable to the vagaries of the weather. The parcels office and associated structures and platform are yet untouched by the reconstruction but would soon be demolished when the new building was opened prior to the remaining station building. The remnants of the 1860 station's luggage and parcel bridge's tower is seen in front of the parcel office. Photograph by HW Robinson © Steam Archive |
