View of the gated exit from the 'incline machine' used by passengers returning from holiday and located on Warwick Road next to the bridge. Coventry's growing Irish population in the late 1950s is reflected in the poster advertising return fares to Dublin from 56/- (fifty-six shillings/£2-16-0/£2.80) on a Saturday and 75/- (seventy five shilings/£3-15-0/£3.75) on a Sunday. The journey would have been in all probability by train to Holyhead and then ferry to Dublin although it was also possible to go via Liverpool although this required a longer trip by ferry.
