A later view of Coventry station's concourse on the up platform with the Refreshment Room to the right of the exit as seen on 8th November 1954. The wider platform area of the concourse formed the one of the major parts of the works undertaken in 1901-4. Previously platform one was the same width from the parcels office to Stoney Road bridge and then narrowed to accommodate station offices for staff including PW, police and ticket inspector. The 1901-4 extension replaced offices that were once located in the area to the left of the row of columns seen above. The station signs are in British Railway's new corporate maroon & cream livery.
