Close up view of No 1 Goods shed, cattle pens and the sidings running parallel to the main line

Close up of image 'lnwrcov554' showing No 1 Goods shed, cattle pens and the sidings running parallel to the main line . At the top of the photograph parallel to Warwick Road are the goods storage sheds which were built above the stables. Beneath these buildings is No 2 Goods on the left and Goods shed No 1 whilst to the right immediately adjacent to Warwick Road bridge are the cattle pens. Careful examination of the sidings between No 1 Goods shed and the main Birmingham line will show there are three wagon turntables which provided an additional access to the goods shed. These turntables provided entry into the shed from the middle thereby increasing the flexibility of loading and unloading wagons. The turntables can be seen above the second group of wagons from the bottom and the author remembers the remains of at least one turntable being evident up to the late 1980s.
