Close up of the 1891 L&NWR plan which shows the station was fairly bereft of accommodation prior to the 1892-3 development. The two wagon turntables were to be replaced when the turntable adjacent to the platform was enlarged. To the left is Coventry No 2 Signal Cabin and, adjacent to it, a long single track structure. Whilst its not thought not to be a sand drag its purpose is entirely unknown.
