Ex-LMS 0-6-0 4F No 44152 heads a down Class H freight on to the through road past Coventry No Signal Cabin circa 1951. Built as LMS No 4152 by Crewe works in December 1925, No 44152 was renumbered thus by BR in June 1949 which it retained until September 1961 when it was withdrawn from 31B March shed. As can be seen, even a relatively short freight such as this could not have been overtaken on the short four track section through Coventry station. With the locomotive standing at Coventry No 2 Signal Cabin's home signal, a brake van would have been foul of the junction at Coventry No 1 Signal Cabin. Mike Christensen
