Ex-LNWR 4-6-0 Prince of Wales No 5606 'Conqueror' is seen being inspected for a suspected hot axle box by its crew circa 1930. The locomotive was built as LNWR No 1704 by Crewe works in November 1911 which it retained until the LMS renumbered it as No 5606 in 1927 and kept until it was scrapped in October 1933. This photograph is from Reg Kimber's scrapbook and regretfully is a photocopy from a source, book or photograph, unknown. If anyone has a better copy and/or can give us the photographer's name so it can be credited correctly, we would be most grateful.
