Layout of Coventry Shed in 1920 showing the original 42 foot turntable being accessed direct from the coaling road

Layout of Coventry Shed in 1920 showing the original 42 foot turntable being accessed direct from the coaling road. The plan shows that the coaling shelter covered two sets of tracks with the track nearest to the shed, the coaling bank, being where the loco coal wagons were placed. The other road ran through the coaling shelter to the turntable where a locomotive could be turned to run back out of the shed or be stabled on a short spur siding. Opposite the shed, running parallel with the Leamington branch, were the carriage storage sidings in between which were low level timber platforms to aid staff in cleaning carriages. The carriage cleaning platform nearest to the grounded bodies and huts was 843 feet long.
