Ex-LMS 4-6-2 8P Coronation class No 46240 'City of Coventry stands at Coventry station's new platform three with down Euston to Birmingham express circa 1963. The locomotive was named at a ceremony at Coventry shed by the Lord Mayor of Coventry. During the period when the locomotive lay in store waiting for scrapping there were a number of appeals in the Coventry Evening Telegraph to save the locomotive at a cost of £10,000 but unfortunately unlike Birmingham, the attempts failed.
