Birmingham New Street Station: lnwrbns_str4301

King Edward VII and the Queen are seen getting in to their carriage in Queens Drive, New Street station

King Edward VII and the Queen are seen getting in to their carriage in Queens Drive, New Street station, on the opening of the University of Birmingham on 7th July 1909. The Royal train is obviously provided by the London North Western Railway but it has arrived on the Midland Railway's side at the platform later renumbered as platform 7. One possible reason for the Royal Train being on the Midland Railway's side of New Street is that the Royal Train departed from Windsor and then ran over GWR metals to Bordesley where it joined the Midland Railway to run into their side of New Street station.
