LMS 4-6-0 'Jubilee Class No 5595 'Southern Rhodesia' stands at Birmingham New Street Station on 29th April 1937. The locomotive's curved nameplate and plaque are covered, ready for the naming ceremony arranged for 27th May 1937. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in January 1935 the locomotive had been reboilered by the time this photograph was taken. The locomotive was renumbered by British Railways in September 1949 which it carried until January 1965 when it was withdrawn from 5A Crewe North shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Great Bridge.
