Ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 44964 is seen departing Platform 7 with a passenger express service from Bristol to Newcastle on Saturday 29th June 1957. Built by Crewe works in July 1946 Saltley based No 44964 was to remain in service until October 1967 when it was withdrawn from Edge Hill shed in Liverpool, following an accident with ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 44933 and ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48279, to be scrapped in March 1968 by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
