A pair of Jubilees, ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 No 45742 'Connaught' and No 45592 'Indore' head the 11 20am Euston to Wolverhampton express service

A pair of Jubilees, ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 No 45742 'Connaught' and No 45592 'Indore' head the 11 20am Euston to Wolverhampton express service on Saturday 2nd May 1959. Standing at Platform 6 is ex-LMS 3MT 2-6-2T No 40105 on a stopping service to Wolverhampton along the Stour Valley. Built at Crewe works in December 1936 No 45742 was to remain in service until May 1965 when it was withdrawn from Kingmoor shed in Carlisle to be scrapped in August 1965 by the Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Company at Inshaw Works.

Classmate No 45592 was built by the North British Locomotive Company in December 1934 and was to remain in service until September 1964 when it was withdrawn from Newton Heath shed in Manchester to be scrapped in February 1965 by the Central Wagon Company of Ince near Wigan. The Ivatt designed 3MT No 40105 was built at Derby works in June 1935 and it remained in service until July 1962 when it was withdrawn from Heaton Mersey shed to be scrapped in May 1963 by GH Campbell of Shieldhall.
