Ex-Midland Railway 2P 4-4-0 No 40526 is seen standing in the short head shunt sited between Platforms 8 and 9 in front of No 2 Signal Cabin on 16th December 1950. Built at Derby works as a member of the MR's 483 class in August 1899, No 40526 was to remain in service until July 1956 when it was withdrawn from Burton-on-Trent shed to be immediately scrapped by Derby works.
