Ex-LNWR 2P 0-6-2T 'Watford Tank' No 6906 is seen on pilot duties at the West end of Platform 1 coupled to a 10 ton Van on 28th January 1950. Built at Crewe works in November 1900 No 6906 was another Watford Tank locomotive that had nearly reached the end of its working life being withdrawn in May 1951 from Bangor shed to be scrapped soon afterwards by Crewe works. The Van has an 'XP' classification which means that it could carry perishables or other loads and be attached to normal express passenger services for fast transit. The chalked markings on the Van Stand, Olympia, 234 Rabbits and Smithfield suggest it has recently been used to transport goods both for an exhibition and rabbits to Smithfield Market.
