LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington

Looking north towards Nuneaton as a Diesel Multiple Unit local passenger service to Leamington Avenue stops in the station circa early 1960s. The destination blind on the front advertised 'Leamington Spa' but the station it was actually headed for was Leamington Avenue. It was with the closure of passenger services on the route to Leamington that Leamington Avenue, the LNWR station, was closed with all traffic subsequently routed direct to the Great Western Railway's station 'Leamington Spa' so named by British Railways in 1948 to avoid confusion between the two.
