View of Aston shed's relatively unusual coaling plant built
by Mitchell Engineering in the early 1930s. Hawkins and Reeve state in Volume
One 'LMS Engine Sheds - The L&NWR' that due to space restrictions
caused by the erection of the new coaling plant and the ash disposal facilities
(the plant is out of sight on the right), the original water tank was
demolished having to be replaced by a new steel structure accommodating 60,000
gallons. This structure can be seen to the left of the coaling plant above the
open wagon.
