Schematic showing the track layout of Aston station and Aston shed with lines to Lichfield, Stechford and New Street. The schematic also shows the branch line to Windsor Street Goods station as well as the private sidings to Nechelles Gas and Midland Tar Distillers and Hardmans. Andy Doherty writes, 'Windsor Street was a purpose built goods station opened in 1880 by the LNWR roughly a mile from Birmingham city centre in what was then the borough of Aston. The yard was of considerable size capable of holding some 334 wagons'. In addition to this, the yard also served significant rail workings at Birmingham Corporation Gas Works.

Following correspondence regarding the accuracy of the above diagram (including the incorrect spelling of Nechells as Nechellos) Reg Instone of the LNWR Society writes, 'Hardman's Private Siding" is actually Wright's & Eagle Range No. 2 Siding. Hardman's Siding became Robinson's sidings from the 1st January 1921 and Midland Tar Distillers from some time between 1929 and 1938.
