Close up showing the overbridge carrying Long Acre over the line to Stechford and Hardman's sidings

Close up of image 'lnwra1492' showing the overbridge carrying Long Acre over the line to Stechford and Hardman's sidings. The timber bodied open wagon is standing on Hardman's headshunt used by locomotives when shunting wagons between the two sidings seen on the left in the bottom portion of the photograph. Seen to the left of the steel bodied open wagons on the main line is a Permanent Way hut used by the platelayers gang who maintained the stretch of track between Aston and Stechford. Beyond the initial throat to Aston shed which was the responsibility of Aston No 1 signal cabin, all of the points for the shed's sidings and roads were controlled by hand operated levers, an example of which can be seen on the right in the foreground. Seen in the centre foreground and in reverse is a 20 miles per hour speed restriction sign.
