Looking towards Aston station with Witton station's main
passenger building seen on the left on 5th August 1930. It was not uncommon for
railway companies to locate the booking office on a station's platform where
most passenger journeys would commence. In Witton's case it was deemed that
this would be the up platform where passengers , many being commuters, would
board trains for New Street station. In addition to the booking office, there
would be a general waiting room often incorporated into the booking hall, a
ladies waiting room which would have en-suite toilet facilities, and a
gentlemen's latrine which would be accessed from a separate external door.
