LMS Route: Trent Valley Line

Ex-LMS 4-6-0 5MT No 45093 is seen working the very last down local passenger service stopping at Shilton station in September 1957. Built as LMS No 5093 by the Vulcan Foundry in April 1935 this 'Stanier Black Five' was renumbered No 45093 by British Railways in January 1949 and remained as such until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from 5B Crewe South shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Great Bridge. This last shed was probably a paper transfer as the locomotive had been allocated to 5A Crewe North from October 1958 until the first week in October 1965.
