English Electric Type 4 1Co-Co1 No D255 is seen on the diverted 3:45pm Euston to Birmingham New Street service on 4th September 1966. The electrification of the Trent Valley Line and the Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford route as part of the West Coast infrastructure project saw many diversifications occur with some being rather convoluted. The 3:45pm express service had called at Rugby and Coventry as normal but had then been diverted to Nuneaton in order to take the former Midland Railway's Nuneaton to Birmingham line to complete its journey. The Coventry Loop Line can be seen curving away behind the diesel locomotive whilst the LNWR parachute water tank equipped with two 'bags' for providing water for two of the siding roads is seen on the right.
