Ex-LNER 2-8-0 class O1 /8 No 63789 on a short up goods train passing Signal Box. The number of vans in the yard shows that the yard was still extensively used in the 1940s and 50s. The line nearest to the camera was a refuge siding where trains, principally goods trains, could be reversed to allow others to overtake them.
