This close up of image 'gcrcs1' shows contractor's rails behind the jib. There is also evident a steel girder bridge with space under which begs the question as to what part of the line this steam shovel is excavating.

Careful study of the full sized photograph shows a building to the right of this bridge which has a roof, window openings and chimneys all similar to the building seen in image 'gcrcs21' showing the GC Rugby Central Station. If this is correct then the steam shovel is excavating the goods yard. C1895
