Building the last Main Line Railway
Flecknoe, Willoughby and Staverton: gcrcs115
Bridge No. 474, a girder occupation structure built by T.
Oliver & Son as part of Contract No.4 (Rugby to Woodford) to carry a track
over the London Extension near Willoughby.
Although the trackbed is flat and the line has been
ballasted, these are temporary contractor's rails that would quickly be lifted
and re-laid elsewhere. Note the brick work parapet: a relatively unusual
feature for a girder bridge on the GC's Main Line.
