Building the last Main Line Railway
Flecknoe, Willoughby and Staverton: gcrcs113
Spanning a single track of main line permanent way, this is
the plate girder bridge that carried the Great Central's London Extension over
the London & North Western Railway's route between Weedon and Leamington.
The bridge has been built to accomodate double tracks should the LNWR require
it in the future, a neccessary but expensive insurance policy as it always
remained a single line until closure. T. Oliver & Son was the firm
contracted to build this section of the Last Main Line (Rugby to Woodford).
