Thought to have been photographed near Rugby, this steam powered excavator tips its load into a horse drawn wagon. The horse drawn wagon is different to others seen working in a cutting having higher sides.

Note the poorly laid contractor's temporary way and primitive points, the navvy triming excess spoil and the lamps hung from the wooden poles.
