Thought to have been photographed at the Ashlawn Road bridge, this is the bucket arm of a steam navvy excavating the cutting and illustrates how the cutting was formed around the completed structure. This section of the Line (Contract No.4, Rugby to Woodford) was built by T. Oliver & Son.
